Malayan Insurance retains top ranking

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Malayan Insurance Co. Inc. has retained its number one position in the non-life insurance industry in the latest ranking released by the Insurance Commission (IC).

Based on gross premiums written, Malayan Insurance made P5.995 billion in 2011, and P2.593 billion in terms of premiums earned. This is the 42nd year in a row, since 1970, that Malayan has earned the number one position.

The Yuchengco company’s performance in the two crucial ranking categories confirms the strong and stable rankings provided Malayan Insurance by financial ranking institutions AMBest and Standard & Poors in 2011.

Founded in 1930, Malayan Insurance is considered the founding pillar of the Yuchengco Group of Companies and prides itself as having a wide range of non-life insurance products such as property, motorcar, accident and marine insurance, as well as surety bonds to help insure the needs of both Filipino businesses and families.

“We are grateful to our clients for having faith in us. We would not have lasted 82 years and maintained our leadership for 42 consecutive years without their trust and confidence,” said Malayan president Yvonne S. Yuchengco.

She added that Malayan will remain firm in its commitment to promptly settle just and valid claims at all times.

The Bankers Assurance Corp. (BAC) and the First Nationwide Insurance Corp. (FNAC) along with Malayan Insurance form the Malayan Group of Insurance Companies which is the largest non-life insurance group in the Philippines.
