MANILA, Philippines - Car sales of member companies of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) fell 6.4 percent year-to-date in April from the same period of January to April last year mainly due to shorter selling days for the month due to Holy Week.

In the sales report released yesterday, CAMPI said 44,912 units were sold from January to April this year versus 47,963 units in the same period last year.

Month-on-month, sales fell 9. 7 perecent to  12,30 units sold in April from 13,631 in March.

Year to date sales of passenger cars declined by 17.6 percent to 13,342 units from 16,201 units. It also declined 14.7 percent to 3,702 units versus March sales of 4,341 units.

CAMPI attibuted this to “supply unavailability of some models.”

Year- to- date sales of AUV sales increased by 10.2 percent to 12,472 units from 11,317 in the same period last year. “This was due to good market acceptance for the new Innova and Avanza,” Campi said.
