Puregold committed to support sari-sari stores

MANILA, Philippines - Puregold Price Club Inc., one of the country’s leading supermarket chains, is committed to support the sari-sari store sector as it once again gathers sari-sari store owners during the 7thTindahan ni Aling Puring Convention from May 16 to 19 to give them numerous benefits and opportunities, and help them succeed in their businesses.

President Aquino will be the guest of honor at the opening of the 7th Tindahan ni Aling Puring Sari-Sari Store Convention on May 16 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

To reach out and assist more sari-sari store owners in the country this year’s convention will be held simultaneously for the first time in two venues: the World Trade Center in Manila, from May 16 to19 May and in Camp John Hay in Baguio City, from May 16 to 17.

Leonardo Dayao, president of the publicly-listed supermarket and shopping mall chain, said the two convention sites reflect the increasing vibrance of growth areas outside the NCR, which Puregold has committed to support with even more store launches. This week, the chain opens three new stores in West Ave., QC; Gen. Trias in Cavite; and Brgy. Putatan in Muntinlupa, bringing its total network to 106 branches throughout Luzon.

The annual holding of the convention shows Puregold’s track record of helping the sari-sari sector. Since 2006, the convention has become bigger, and more substantive and colorful, attesting to the determination of Puregold in empowering Tindahan ni Aling Puring members and helping fully develop their entrepreneurial skills.

Per Puregold’s customer profile, Aling Puring represents any modern day sari-sari store or business owner who maintains a positive outlook. She is the average woman, 26 years old and above, a risk-taker, an entrepreneur, confident, aggressive and versatile, and in the local parlance “taong may diskarte.”

An estimated 800,000 sari-sari stores hold the lion’s share of the Philippine retail market, with Puregold Aling Puring members now numbering 180,000.
