Robinsons Land building 2-level shopping mall in Roxas City
MANILA, Philippines - Robinsons Land Corp., the property arm of taipan John Gokongwei’s listed flagship firm JG Summit Holdings Inc., is building a two-level full-service shopping mall in Roxas City, Capiz in line with its strategy to further widen its footprint in Visayas.
The Capiz mall, the eighth in the group’s steadily growing network of shopping centers in the Visayas, is located at the northern portion of the 150-hectare Pueblo de Panay, an emerging commercial development in Barangay Lawaan of Roxas City.
Targeted for completion in the third quarter of 2013, Robinsons Place Roxas will offer a total gross floor area of 40,100 square meters and more than 700 parking slots.
“RLC continues to be bullish about the growth prospects of the Visayas region and the construction of a new mall in Capiz is an affirmation of our commitment to the region’s economic growth,” said RLC president Frederick Go.
RLC’s commercial centers portfolio in the Visayas includes Robinsons Place Bacolod, Robinsons Cybergate Bacolod, Robinsons Place Iloilo, Robinsons Fuente Osmeña, Robinsons Cybergate Cebu, Robinsons Place Dumaguete, and Robinsons Place Tacloban.
The group currently has 30 malls nationwide. It recently opened Robisons Place Pangasinan and is slated to open two more (Robinsons Place Palawan and Robinsons Magnolia within the next three months.
RLC has earmarked P13 billion for capital spending this year, bulk of which will go to the construction of new malls, office buildings and hotels.
It is constructing two office buildings in Ortigas with a GLA of 40,000 sqm each. These projects, when completed in mid-2013, will boost the firm’s total office GLA by 41 percent to 274,000 sqm.
Aside from this, the group is planning to open two more Go Hotels this year, located in Tacloban and Bacolod. It already opened in Palawan and Dumaguete in the first quarter of the year.
These four hotels will add 416 rooms to its existing 223-room Go Hotel in Pioneer, which is currently enjoying a 90 percent occupancy rate.
