Villarosa is new BAP president
MANILA, Philippines - The Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) has announced the election of Alberto S. Villarosa, current president and chief executive officer of Security Bank Corp., as the banking industry’s association new president for the period 2012-2013.
The BAP executive committee for the period 2012-2013 is composed of Villarosa, president, Lorenzo V. Tan, first vice president, Sanjiv Vohra, second vice president; Antonio C. Moncupa Jr., secretary; and Enrico S. Cruz, treasurer. Cesar O. Virtusio serves as executive director.
Villarosa also assumes chairmanship of the BAP’s 15-member board together with elected directors, Ricardo A. Balbido, Jr. president and CEO, Philippine Veterans Bank; Anthony Q. Chua, president, Allied Bank; Abraham T. Co., president, Asia United Bank; Enrico S. Cruz, managing director and chief country officer, Deutsche Bank; Peter S. Dee, president and CEO, China Bank; Francisco Del Rosario Jr., president and CEO, Development Bank Of The Philippines; Mahendra Gursahani, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank; Antonio C. Moncupa, Jr., president and CEO, EastWest Bank; Antonio H. Ozaeta, president, Philtrust; Ichiro Tada, general manager, Mizuho Bank; Lorenzo V. Tan, president and CEO, Rizal Commercial and Banking Corp., Nestor V. Tan, president Banco De Oro; Arthur V. Ty, president, Metrobank; and Sanjiv Vohra, country officer, Citibank.
In a message before the association members, outgoing BAP president Aurelio Montinola thanked the board, the general membership and the BAP staff which he had the pleasure and honor of working with over the last four challenging and fulfilling years.
“Your friendship and support are deeply appreciated. I wish all of you more power and more years of great opportunities, resiliency and growth for the Philippine commercial banking industry and our stakeholders as we slowly embark to another chapter of the BAP’s corporate life”, said Montinola.
