ALI to spend additional P12.5 billion over 5 years to develop Nuvali

- Zinnia B. Dela Peña -

MANILA, Philippines - Property giant Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) is pouring in an additional P12.5 billion over next five years in its 1,840-hectare mixed-use, sustainable eco-community, Nuvali, to make it the largest business and commercial district south of Metro Manila.

In a briefing yesterday, ALI senior vice-president and Nuvali general manager Jun Bisnar said the additional investment is on top of the P8.8 billion already spent by the group in the sprawling community which stretches from Sta. Rosa to Calamba in Laguna.

Bisnar said they have already developed 837 hectares or 45 percent of of the total land area and new projects are in the pipeline to make it a premier destination, noting that prices of residential lots have doubled since 2007.

He said the group has more than 10 residential projects in Nuvali and has sold more than 46 commercial lots since 2009, valued at more than P3 billion.

Among the new developments to rise in Nuvali include the Republic Wakepark, Xavier School, the Monochrome Events Place, a Kukun hotel, the Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary, and more residential projects to be launched by different business units of ALI.

With construction nearly 90-percent complete, the Xavier School in Nuvali is ready to open its doors to the public by June 2012, targeting a 25-percent student population on scholarship.

Situated on a 15-hectare lot, twice the size of its facility in Greenhils, San Juan, Xavier Nuvali comprises three to four buildings with state-of-the-art classrooms for primary, middle and secondary levels.

The MonoChrome Events Place, on the other hand, will rise on a 3,500-square meter property with a capacity of 740 seats on the ground floor and 730 on the second floor and a total of six events halls. It is slated for completion in the fourth quarter this year.

Kukun Nuvali, ALI’s fourth boutique and businessman’s hotel next to the ones being constructed in Bonifacio Global City, Davao and Cagayan De Oro, will comprise 150 rooms on a nine-story structure when completed in end-2013. Unit sizes range from 28 square meters to 34 square meters.

The Wakeboard Park, meanwhile, will be operational this summer, featuring a four-hectare lake, a hotel, a bar and restaurant and a skate park. It is envisioned to become the newest and innovative wakepark in the world and in line with Nuvali’s mission to boost a healthier way of living.

To encourage the public to get closer to nature, the group is developing the Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary, a 17-kilometer buffer green and forest zone featuring a total of 76 bird and mammal species.

The group has also launched Solenad 2, a neighborhood center that offers specialty and retail establishments.
