Dear Mr. Chanco:

This letter is issued in response to your column last Dec. 9, 2011. In your piece you stated that you have received a text message that reportedly spreads misleading information about our Acqua project in Mandaluyong, and that it was composed in a manner that construes it as another condo in Makati.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We assure you that our company does not condone such alleged acts of misrepresentation. We have started to look into the matter, and if necessary, we are ready to enforce disciplinary measures within our ranks.

We also seek to clarify that the collaborations we have with international brands form part of our corporate mission to elevate the Philippines as a premiere development platform. We do this with the Filipino homeowner in mind, and this is why we have constantly worked to put good value into each of our projects at attainable prices.

It is unfortunate that our optimism in the Philippine real estate industry and our assistance to position Manila as an international city with recognizable brands were seen as signs of insecurity. Century, being a 25-year-old Philippine real estate firm, has established a portfolio of more than 60 real estate developments and managed properties. Together with our track record of on schedule project completions, we believe these are strong testaments of our confidence.
