Trade show features Marikina-made products
MANILA, Philippines - Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman invites the public to come and visit the 97 stalls of exclusively Marikina-made products during the Made in Marikina Trade Exhibit on Dec. 15 to 18 at the Megatrade Hall 2 in SM Megamall, Mandaluyong.
The four-day trade exhibit dubbed “Gawang Marikina, Gawang Kinikilala” will be from 10am to 9pm featuring different products made in the city like shoes, other leather goods, and non-shoe manufactured products like food, cosmetics, etc.
“We invited different manufacturers from the city to showcase their products and give them a chance to promote them in one of the busiest commercial areas in the metropolis. This will be good for our business sector as it is already the Christmas season and lots of Christmas shoppers visit malls,” De Guzman said.
The trade exhibit is a joint project of the city government of Marikina and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry- Marikina Chapter. The PCCI is planning to make the Made in Marikina Trade Exhibit an annual event.
A highlight of the exhibit is the Markquinas Fashion Show which features products like shoes, hats, and bags made by the city’s manufacturers where the models are also residents of Marikina.
“We made this fashion show to let the shoppers see how beautiful the Marikina products are while wearing them,” said Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Marikina chapter president Eduardo C. Francisco.
Francisco said that businessmen wanted to show De Guzman how supportive they were of his administration and his plans to revitalize the city’s economy.
De Guzman launched his “Make it Marikina!” place marketing campaign early this year to entice new residents, new investments, and more visitors as a way to boost the city’s income.
Marikina is a multi-awarded city and a favored good governance model of other local government units nationwide that visit the city regularly for benchmarking purposes and to learn about its best-practices for replication in their respective municipalities.
