Futenco to provide power to SPUG
MANILA, Philippines - US-based Futenco AG, formerly Clenergen Corp., is expected to start providing power to the Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) of the National Power Corp. (Napocor) this year, a top Napocor official said.
Napocor president Froilan Tampinco told reporters that the construction of Futenco’s 10 megawatt (MW) biomass project in Romblon is expected to be completed within the year.
“The target is within the year. The construction period will not be that long and they firmed up their source of feedstock for the power plant,” he said.
He said Futenco will initially start with one MW.
Clenergen Corp. earlier announced that it has entered into a binding licensing and joint venture agreement with Futenco AG after three years of development of commercial projects in multiple strategic markets.
The partnership, Tampinco said, would allow Napocor to deal with an even stronger power firm.
Earlier, Futenco AG said it is committed to the development and execution of renewable energy projects and distribution of biomass feedstock worldwide. Futenco AG has strategic alliances and partnerships which allow them to develop and execute projects in the most efficient manner in multiple venues throughout the world.
Clenergen is a publicly-traded company which offers strategic clean energy generation and supply of biomass feedstock to address the requirement for renewable and sustainable supplies of electricity. It has developed a unique modular system for gasification and localized plantation management., and also plans to provide biomass feedstock for producing wood pellets for co firing with coal to produce low emission electricity.
Clenergen uses biomass feedstock to implement sustainable supplies of clean energy for captive end users, islands, mining companies, government or privately-owned power grid systems and other end users.
