Incheon, Albay firm up economic cooperation

MANILA, Philippines - Incheon, South Korea’s powerhouse business center, and Albay have firmed up economic partnership to further strengthen trade and investment cooperation between them.

The partnership was signed at the Sister Cities Conference held recently at Incheon Metropolitan City Hall.

Gov. Joey Salceda, who headed a six-man delegation to the conference last week, was also appointed Incheon’s Adviser for International Affairs.

During the conference, Incheon Metropolitan City Mayor Song Young-Gil turned over a check grant of P2.2 million for victims of typhoon “Juaning” in Albay.

Salceda thanked Young-Gil for the donation, saying it further strengthened the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Albay and Incheon.

He also expressed optimism over the existing sisterhood pact and the planned trade and investment cooperation.

The province signed a sisterhood pact with Incheon four years ago.

Albay maintains two offices in Manila and two in Korea.

During his visit to Korea, Salceda was accompanied by Vice Gov. Harold Imperial, Provincial Board member Arnold Embestro, Rev. Dr. Jeon Dae Gu, who is Albay embassy director for North Asian Affairs, and Christopher Di-Llaco Flores, Albay coordinator for trade and investments.
