MANILA, Philippines - The availability of jobs and steady source of income remains one of the country’s biggest challenges today. That is why Philex Mining Corp., which is committed to providing thousands of Filipino workers adequate jobs, particularly in the rural areas, have earned commendation from the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP).
TUCP party-list Raymond Democrito C. Mendoza attested to the company’s efforts on employment generation and development of livelihood programs, which, albeit small steps, would consequently help eradicate poverty in the country.
“Our unchanging motto is sustainable employment for every able and willing worker, not dole-outs. It is my sincere hope that Philex Mining will continue to further expand its profitable business and offer decent and gainful jobs to thousands of workers who are now still unemployed in the rural areas,” he said on the sidelines of the recent signing of collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between Philex Mining (Padcal Operations) and Philex Mining Supervisory Employees Union-APSOTEU-TUCP in Pasig City.
Mendoza stressed such “real and sustainable strategies to address poverty in the country” is responsible mining on the works and that TUCP will extend its full support to this practice.
