Shell sets Guinness record

MANILA, Philippines - With 736 in attendance in two different locations, Filipino motorists from Metro Manila and Iloilo City joined other drivers across the globe in a worldwide Shell initiative which successfully set a Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Fuel Efficiency Lesson.’

Dubbed Global Shell FuelSave Day, the successful Guinness World Record attempt involved 11 cities across Europe and Asia where simultaneous training sessions were staged in which motorists learned how to save fuel and cut their driving costs. A total of 3,243 participated in the historic Guinness World Record celebration.

Simultaneous fuel efficiency lessons took place in Allerød, Denmark; Bangkok, Thailand; Hamburg, Germany; Hong Kong, China; Istanbul, Turkey; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; London, UK; and Valkenburg, Netherlands.

The world record attempt was overseen by Guinness and a team of local adjudicators.

The successful Guinness World Record attempt follows the recent launch of Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Shell FuelSave Diesel in the Philippines – Shell’s most advanced fuel economy fuels to date designed to help motorists save up to one liter per tank from the very first drop.

“To see so many people come together and achieving a Guinness World Record for fuel efficiency pushed our passion to help motorists get the most out of every drop of fuel. We know that Filipino motorists are looking for ways to bring down their driving costs, so I hope that through today’s celebrations, we’ve been able to show them how easily this can be achieved by choosing the right fuel and making a few simple changes to their driving habits,” said Pilipinas Shell general manager for retail Oying Yam.
