First modern transport terminal in Dumaguete City inaugurated

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Dumaguete Transport Terminal, the first modern multi-million integrated terminal, will soon rise beside gohotels.ph, which is located within the Robinsons Place Dumaguete shopping complex. This modern terminal will cater to both north and south bound public utility vehicles (PUVs) from Canlaon city to Bayawan City and is expected to be completed and operational in January 2012.

“We are committed to help the transport community and the commuters of the province and with the central location of the terminal, we are confident that traffic flow within the city will be smoother,“ says Dumaguete Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria.

Joseph Sian, Robinsons Place Dumaguete’s group property manager, said RLC believes that the project is a major contribution to the City’s effort of modernizing their transport system. “We are one with the local government in their efforts to upgrade the facilities of Dumaguete City.”

Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC), the country’s leading property developer, is spearheading this project together with LTO, LTFRB, DOT, city government of Dumaguete, NOCCI, DBPI, AFOS Foundation, FEDUMCODA under a Private-Public-Partnership (PPP) scheme.

All PUVs in Negros Oriental are committed to exclusively use the Dumaguete Transport Terminal instead of using the narrow crowded city streets. The terminal project is part of the corporate social responsibility of RLC to the City of Dumaguete.

The Dumaguete Integrated Terminal was recently launched with the signing of a memorandum of agreement at the Robinsons Place Dumaguete Atrium. The event was attended by Land Transportation Office law enforcement division director Edgar Cabase Sr., Land Transportation Office Dumaguete chief Roland C. Ramos, Land Transportation and Franchise Regulatory Board assistant regional director Ray Elnar, Mayor Manuel T. Sagarbarria representing the government sector, Edward Du, president, Negros Oriental Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jose Quitay representing the transport group, Tommy O, vice president, property group, Joseph Sian, property manager representing Robinsons Land Corp. and Mary Grace T. Lim, mall manager, representing Robinsons Mall.
