Ford Phils vehicle sales up 21% in August
MANILA, Philippines - Ford Philippines reported yesterday its overall vehicle sales went up 21 percent to 741 units in August from a year ago level.
Ford’s August performance was led by another strong month from the popular All-New Fiesta, which delivered retail sales of 309 units and continued as Ford’s best-selling nameplate in the Philippines.
Ford’s overall sales through the first eight months of this year continued to lead the industry, rising 44 percent year-over-year to 6,164 vehicles, making Ford the fastest growing automotive brand in the Philippines this year.
Meanwhile, in a chance interview Ford Group Philippines chairman Henry Co said he still does not know what they will produce in their manufacturing facility here in the country in lieu of the Focus after the ASEAN production gets transferred in Thailand next year. “When I find out I will tell you,” he said.
Ford also celebrated another award for the sporty Fiesta in August when it was named ‘Best Sub-Compact’ at the 7th Annual C! Awards.
“The All-New Fiesta is continuing to drive our monthly sales gains this year, and their increasing numbers out on the road is providing great visibility for its class-leading package of design, fuel efficiency, safety and smart technologies,” said Randy Krieger, president, Ford Group Philippines. “It’s clearly now one of the leaders in the highly competitive small car segment.”
