Isuzu Phl names new EVP
MANILA, Philippines - Isuzu Philippines Corp. announced that Takashi Tomita, formerly the general manager for market research and development of Mitsubishi Corp.’s Isuzu Business Division in Japan, is replacing longtime IPC officer Yuki Kato as company executive vice president.
Tomita, a native of Osaka and graduate of law at the University of Tokyo, has worked in the auto industry for 30 years, having joined the trading firm Mitsubishi Corp. in 1981 to help with its motor vehicle business.
In 1992, he became assistant manager of the company’s Isuzu Team. Three years later, in 1995, he was assigned to Tri Petch Isuzu Sales Co. Ltd. in Thailand as department manager for sales planning and then as department manager for dealer sales.
In 1999, he returned to Japan to be a manager of the Isuzu Team. He did stints in the company’s other business units in the years that followed, until he was made the deputy general manager of Isuzu’s International Business Unit in 2006, overseeing the Middle East and African markets. In 2007, he was assigned to manage Isuzu’s operations in Central and South America.
After handling several management posts in Japan, Australia and Vietnam, Tomita served as deputy general manager of the Isuzu Business Division’s market research and development office in 2009, and then as full-fledged general manager of the same office the following year, before being assigned to his new post as Isuzu Philippines’ EVP this year.
“It is with great pride and satisfaction that I accept my new role as executive vice president of IPC,” said Tomita. “My predecessor, Mr. Yuki Kato, has obviously done a commendable job and it will be a huge challenge for me to do the same. However, I am confident that with my vast experience in global sales, finance and administration while handling the Isuzu brand, I will be able to provide IPC the right kind of leadership it needs to continue dominating the various commercial vehicle segments it competes in.”
