PSALM to bid out P9.4-B fuel supply needs

Manila, Philippines - The Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM) will bid out by the middle of this month some P9.4 billion worth of fuel supply requirements.

PSALM said at least four suppliers have already expressed interest to bid for the supply and the delivery of the oil-based fuel (OBF) requirements of PSALM for the second semester of 2011.

According to PSALM, the interested parties recently attended the pre-bid conference on the procurement project.

During the conference, PSALM discussed with the prospective bidders the salient provisions of the bidding exercise. These provisions include the supply of industrial diesel oil (IDO) and industrial fuel oil (IFO) for the power plants of PSALM and its independent power producers.

PSALM will specifically need 150 kiloliters (kl) of IDO for the Malaya thermal power plant in Pililia, Rizal.

For its IFO requirements, PSALM will need 150,000 kl for the Malaya facility.

Another 14,000 kl will be needed for the Davao City-based Power Barge 104 while some 26,500 kl is required for Southern Philippines Power Corp. in Sarangani.

About 46,500 kl, on the other hand, is for the Western Mindanao Power Corp. based in Zamboanga province.

The deadline for the submission of bids for the OBF procurement project is on June 17.
