Manabat in UE lecture series

MANILA, Philippines - Manabat Sanagustin & Co., CPAs’ (MS&C) chairman and CEO Roberto G. Manabat conducted a lecture on “Quality Audit and Good Governance” last March 2 at the 5th University of the East (UE) - Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) sponsored lecture held at the UE Theater, UE Manila.

Manabat discussed the importance, the drivers and principles of corporate governance as well as the role of accountants in it. He talked about the roles and responsibilities of the board of directors and its duties to financial reporting. He also touched on the roles and responsibilities of audit committees; oversight of the financial reporting process; audit process; disclosure and transparency; financial disclosures; the roles of external auditor and the importance of audit quality.

Manabat being the chairman and CEO of MS&C – a Philippine member firm of KPMG International, one of the Big Four firms in the audit industry – discussed KPMG’s monitoring system in terms of Quality Performance Review, Risk Compliance Program and Global Compliance Review.

The UE-PICPA Accounting Lecture Series aims to provide a broader perspective on the profession; to provide awareness of the developments and progress in the field and to reinforce linkages and further interaction between the academe and stakeholders of the profession such as government agencies and private companies.
