Meralco cited for 'Best Investor Relations'

MANILA, Philippines - Corporate Governance Asia, Asia’s most authoritative and respected journal on corporate governance, cited Meralco as having one of the “Best Investor Relations” in Asia for 2010 during the 1st Asian Excellence Recognition Awards held recently at the Island Shangri-La Hotel in Hong Kong.

Meralco joins a prestigious list of awardees that include other regional utilities such as China Light and Power.

The award, accepted by Meralco treasurer Rafael L. Andrada, was based on the results of a regional poll and interviews conducted among investors in Asia between August to December 2010. Meralco garnered one of the highest votes in the area of investor relations among companies surveyed in the Philippines and around Asia.

Corporate Governance Asia is a quarterly publication that provides news and analysis on corporate governance issues, boardroom practices and shareholder activism. It launched its first Asian Excellence Recognition Awards last year aiming to recognize excellence in investor communications, business ethics, corporate social responsibility (CSR), environmental practices and financial performance of public and private companies as well as non-profit organizations in the region.
