BAIPHIL hosts its biennial convention at the Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City on March 18, 19 and 20, 2011. This 26th National Convention coincides with the celebration of the 70th year of the Bankers Institute of the Philippines.

Under the auspices of the board and the national convention committee, work has been ongoing to ensure the success of the BAIPHIL National Convention to be held on March 18-20, 2011 at Taal Vista Hotel in the green and cool city of Tagaytay.

The convention is a biennial event held out-of-town to enable Manila-based member / non-member banks / institutions to invite their branches and guests to attend the general and technical sessions, which cover a wide range of topics, and view the gallery of exhibits and interactive product presentations mounted by the leading service providers and suppliers specializing in information technology, software solutions/applications, and telecommunication requirements, among others.

The national convention aims to bring together the 300 members of the Institute from Metro Manila and provinces and provide them with a venue for enhanced learning on the developments and updates that have impact and relevance on the banking industry. To this end, the registration and attendance committee, with the help of the facilities and accommodation committee are drumming up attendance among members and other bank officers and staff of member institutions. To register, just fill in the registration form sent by the secretariat and submit the same soonest.

The two-and-a-half day convention is packed with general and technical sessions on topics ranging from both government and private sectors’ vision and outlook on the banking industry, the role of good governance and the judiciary in economic progress, PFRS 9, ICAAP, entrepreneurship, telco industry trends in the Philippines to spiritual awareness, all of which are valuable to the members’ professional development, social responsibility and general well-being.

Prominent and prestigious corporate sponsors and exhibitors have been invited to display, and promote the latest technologies for banking products and related services; 22 have confirmed taking all available slots for the Platinum and Gold sponsorship categories.

The sessions will not be complete without the fellowship activities that not only provide fun and respite from the serious topics but more importantly strengthen the bond and unity among the Institute’s members. Without divulging the details and taking the element of surprise, the March 18 fellowship will be a game night while the March 19 fellowship will have the theme “70’s” in line with the convention theme highlighting the Institute’s 70th or diamond year. Exciting prizes will be raffled off throughout the convention period.

The special projects committee appeals to generous hearts to donate any item for the Silent Auction which will be held on March 18, 2011 during the National Convention. Proceeds of the sale will be used to fund the financial education program which will benefit the parents and teachers of public school children as well as the OFW families and the nanays of Payatas communities.

The campaign is on for more donations to be solicited online from all BAIPHIL members, particularly the committee chairpersons and amongst member institutions through their voting representatives.

Please contact the secretariat at 853-4457 in case you have donations for pick-up.
