Sun Cellular to boost 24/7 services

MANILA, Philippines - Sun Cellular will intensify further its unlimited call, text and broadband services as its rivals seem unable to match its 24/7 services, its saying “unli” packages will define competition in the years ahead just like budget carrier Cebu Pacific, its sister company, changed the rules of the game in the airline industry.

Sun’s advanced network, designed for true and permanent unlimited service, allows subscribers to use their units 24/7 throughout the year without network congestion and, equally important, at the most affordable rates.

“We have the latest and the best equipment and technology. It is efficient, so we could reduce a subscriber’s cost anywhere from 40 to 80 percent per month. It is just like we have a car that is of the latest model,” according to Bill Pamintuan, senior vice president of Digitel, Sun’s mother company.

The other carriers came up with their own versions of unlimited services but were forced to limit their offerings to promos with a lot of restrictions after experiencing network congestion during peak demand, and even suspended their ‘unli’ promos last Christmas.

He added that like Sun Cellular, Cebu Pacific also offers substantially lower fares and brand-new Airbus aircraft. Cebu Pacific is now the country’s No. 1 national flag carrier in terms of number of passengers carried.

Sun said it is number one in the postpaid sector in terms of number of subscribers, and has been getting seven out every 10 new postpaid subscribers because of its unli services and lower rates.

Just recently, Sun introduced the industry’s lowest-priced unlimited postpaid plan at P150 per month. The plan, Sun Add-on Plan 150, comes with a free mobile phone, and a monthly Sun Text Unlimited allocation with four hours of free Sun-to-Sun calls.

It is open to existing and new subscribers applying for a regular postpaid account, and want an additional line through the add-on postpaid plan. This is also offered to subscribers of Sun Broadband Plans.

Sun Cellular’s Plan P350, meanwhile, remains its bestselling postpaid subscription plan. It allows subscribers to call and text anytime even throughout the day of every month for a flat rate of only P350.
