Flying V to put up 150 stations
MANILA, Philippines - Flying V, one of the country’s leading independent oil players, is putting up more than 150 retail stations this year.
Flying V chief executive officer Ramon Villavicencio said the company is targeting to have at least 387 stations nationwide in 2011.
Flying V, so far, has 235 stations.
Villavicencio said there are some 66 stations being constructed and 86 stations already in the pipeline.
The company, he said, will strengthen its logistical infrastructure by increasing its existing depots or terminals to 11 from nine strategically located around the country.
With the expansion of its retail network, Flying V is also expanding its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs through its foundation – The Academe Foundation Inc.
Since 1999, the Academe Foundation has granted more than 1,200 scholarships to underprivileged children nationwide from grade school to college.
“They have taken qualified youths off the streets into classrooms for a chance at a brighter future. They believe that even the most unassuming of people can assume the greatest of roles given the right tools and opportunities,” he said.
He said such as opportunity has been given to the transport sector through scholarship grants and employment opportunities for children of jeepney drivers, where their children are given assistance for tuition, books, school supplies, uniforms, and other allowances that they need to finish tertiary education at a college of university and course of their choice.
