MediaQuest forms strategic alliance with Unitel

-

MANILA, Philippines - MediaQuest Holdings Inc., announced yesterday that it has made an investment in the Unitel Group which includes Unitel Productions, Straight Shooters and a new technology group which is being formed by Tony Gloria, chief executive officer of Unitel. MediaQuest now owns a 30-percent stake in Unitel Group.

Unitel is a multi-awarded television commercial production house and has the most number of projects done in the region, both on its own and through co-production arrangements. It has consistently pioneered the use of new technology that would enhance creative outputs, like bringing in the country’s first video assist, being the first to bring in HD shoot to post technology, and many others over the years, up to recent acquisitions of a Phantom Hi-speed camera and a Virtual Studio System.

Ray C. Espinosa, president and chief executive of MediaQuest and TV5 said “Unitel’s production experience in both television commercials and content work, plus its leadership in moving images production, strongly complements our growing requirements at MediaQuest group, specifically TV5.”

Unitel is the only production house with a Virtual Studio system and this has been used to create the current OBBs of TV5’s news programs. This technology allows huge sets to be built in 3D space will also be used for some segments of the new Batibot shows that will air in TV5 later this month.

“Having an alliance with a media partner was also one of the goals of Unitel as it expands its vision to provide the best moving images in whatever form it would be. It opens more doors for the company to widen its experience in long form projects and at the same time, providing more media outlets,” Gloria added.

Espinosa said, “one of the advantages of this alliance is that MediaQuest and TV5 will gain access to a technology group to be formed under Unitel which will serve as an R&D and production arm with experienced and skilled people working with new technology.”

Following the investment by MediaQuest, Unitel is expected to bring in more equipment that will help create visually exciting images. Part of the initial plans is to purchase more equipment not available yet locally, plus turning one of Unitel’s studios into a sound studio for use for both TVCs and entertainment projects.
