GMA leaves today for South Korea to meet with prospective investors

- Paolo Romero -

MANILA, Philippines - Former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is leaving today for South Korea to meet with officials and investors interested in putting up businesses in her home province.

Mrs. Arroyo’s spokesperson, Ma. Elena Bautista-Horn, said the former leader is also scheduled to hold separate talks with Kim Hyong-O, speaker of the National Assembly, and representatives of South Korean President Lee Myung Bak.

She will also meet with employers of Pampanga residents and South Korean Labor Minister Jaewan Bahk and pay a visit to Busan, the industrial capital of the country.

Officials of the South Korean shipping giant Hanjin, which has a multi-billion dollar shipyard project in Subic, will also pay a courtesy call on the former president, Bautista-Horn said.

The Pampanga lawmaker will also be conferred an honorary doctorate by the Chung Buk University. She will also be the guest speaker of the Human Hospitaller Organization Conference in Seoul.

Last month, Arroyo attended the 5th conference of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) and spoke before a gathering of women leaders on the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in two separate events in New York.
