RCBC's money mart UITF leads industry returns

MANILA, Philippines - The peso-denominated money market unit investment trust fund (UITF) offered by Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) continues to outperform the industry as it attains the highest rate of returns both on a year-to-date and year-on-year basis, according to data recently released by the Trust Officers Association of the Philippines (TOAP).

In a comparative performance report of 14 money market UITFs as of July 22, 2010, RCBC’s Rizal Peso Money Market Fund delivered 1.926 percent YTD absolute return. It also significantly topped year-on-year returns from inception with 3.804 percent, demonstrating its historically higher yields than those offered by other institutions. These returns are net of the 20 percent final withholding tax and management fees.

“The way our UITFs have been performing shows our deft handling of the investment channels we are tapping. We are always out to show our clients that we take their best interest to heart,” said SVP Lourdes Bernadette M. Gerrer, RCBC’s head of trust and turst officer.

“Our seasoned fund managers can help clients optimize gains through carefully crafted and planned investment programs,” she added, explaining that RCBC’s fund management prudence has virtually become its competitive advantage.

The Rizal Peso Money Market Fund, formerly known as the Dragon Fund, is invested in a relatively short-term portfolio of fixed income government securities, time deposits and other tradable securities. With a minimum holding period of 30 days, this type of fund is suited to conservative investors who are looking for moderate and relatively stable returns over the next 90 days but want immediate access to their funds when they need it.

Aside from the Rizal Peso Money Market Fund, RCBC offers three other Peso-denominated UITF products, namely: Rizal Peso Bond Fund, Rizal Equity Fund and Rizal Balanced Fund. For a minimum of P25,000, clients can already have the opportunity to invest in any of RCBC’s peso-denominated UITFs. RCBC also offers the US dollar-denominated products known as the RCBC Dollar Money Market Fund and RCBC Dollar Bond Fund.
