Insular Life wins Anvil award

MANILA, Philippines - Insular Life’s Alamat at Mitolohiya won for the second time as it was conferred an Anvil trophy during formal ceremonies held during the 45th Anvil Awards at the EDSA Shangri-La.

Alamat at Mitolohiya, Insular’s 2009 calendar set, was honored with an Anvil Award of Merit under the External Publications category. It was recognized ‘for the outstanding production of a calendar that features illustrations and an innovative design that are targeted to engage the young, and a mix of familiar and new stories that were selected to spark further exploration into Filipino folk literature.’ The calendar set features beloved Filipino myths and legends. The project aims to increase the youth’s appreciation for Philippine culture, especially literature. The stories were illustrated by leading children’s book artists – Beth Parrocha, Liza Flores, Ferdinand Doctolero, and Brian Vallesteros – who are all members of the group Ilustrador ng Kabataan (INK). Innovative design elements that were introduced in the materials include frameable illustrations, postcards, and wallet calendars that double as book marks.

The Anvil Awards, a program of the Pubic Relations Society of the Philippines PRSP), is deemed as the “Oscars” of the local public relations industry as it recognizes the best PR programs and tools in the country.

Receiving the trophy were Ana Maria R. Soriano, SAVP and PR Head, and Alamat and Mitolohiya project leads Michelle D. Santos and Aileen C. Dionisio.
