PLDT bares new product for SMEs

MANILA, Philippines - Telecommunications leader Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has unveiled a new product intended for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that will ensure cargo security and real time performance monitoring of employees.

PLDT unit PLDT-SME Nation introduced FASTrack service, a product that will allow entrepreneurs to track the movements of their company vehicles and even field personnel. It said service will result in improved safety, security and cost-efficiency to SMEs.

FASTrack uses a portable, pocket-sized homing device that is wirelessly connected to a Global Positioning System (GPS) network, which relies on satellite navigation technology to provide on-the-road and real-time tracking of delivery personnel and vehicles.

A detailed graphical map interface, which can be viewed on a computer, provides details on the whereabouts of field staff and vehicles or even an entire transport fleet using GPS-surveyed map. It can determine the exact location of the vehicle or personnel being monitored up to the secondary street level.

“PLDT FASTrack features and monitoring tools enable business owners to determine the whereabouts of their fleet or vehicles thus allowing them to extract maximum efficiency and productivity from their employees,” PLDT SME-Nation vice-president and head Kat Luna-Abelarde said.

The company said this new service is best for transport, trucking, car rental manufacturing businesses. — Mary Ann Reyes
