MANILA, Philippines - GMA Network announced the appointment of Lizelle G. Maralag as the new president and chief operating officer of its subsidiary, GMA Marketing and Productions, Inc. (GMPI) effective Jan. 25, 2010.
Maralag succeeds Manuel P. Quiogue, who retired at the end of 2009.
Prior to her appointment, Maralag was the managing director for Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) Philippines – the youngest to hold such a position in the advertising industry.
Since she assumed leadership of SMG Philippines in 2000, the company has steadily established itself as the leading media agency in the market, which accounts for about 30 percent market share with a consistent year-on-year double digit growth rate.
Maralag was also responsible for the 100 percent winning streak of SMG Philippines in new business for the past three years and the major wins of key accounts since 2000.
Currently, Maralag is co-chairperson of the Media Specialists Association of the Philippines (MSAP). She served as member of the ways and means committee of the 18th Philippine Advertising Congress, chairman of the industry’s Radio Research Council Adjudication and Review Board, and director of the TV Research Council.
Maralag is an instructor at the University of Asia and the Pacific, teaching for the Integrated Marketing Communications course. She holds a degree of Bachelor of Science in Statistics at the University of the Philippines – Diliman, and took post graduate studies at the INSEAD in Singapore.
