Revenue growth spurs Parañaque momentum

-

MANILA, Philippines - A record 9.4 percent growth in revenue has been posted by Parañaque City In 2008 boasting the city’s momentum for growth and development. According to Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe, P1.92 billion revenue was chalked up in2008 and P1.75 billion in 2007. he attributed the revenue jump to what he called “diligent and conscientious efforts” of the city’s income generating departments, support service offices and the city treasury headed by Jesusa Cuneta. Bernabe also cited individual taxpayers and big businesses for their wholehearted support.

The city mayor stressed that Parañaque is experiencing an unprecedented boom in growth and development. “We are out to compete with the progress of neighbor cities like Makati, Pasig, and Taguig. Good infrastructure, stable peace and order, effectivedelivery of basic services and good governance are attracting more local business and foreign investments. Altogether, the quality of life of our residents has been raised a record high,” he added.

Because of the jump in revenue, Bernabe ordered last week the release of city employees’ 13th month and cash gift. Bernabe also revealed that 90 percent of its residents is now enjoying steady supply of potable water. The most grateful beneficiaries are the 15,000-strong BF Homes residents who for years had agonized over the problem. Bernabe noted that with strong political will good governance is always achievable. He added that this has been his creed in public service.
