PLDT opens 5th Innolab in Subic

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), the country’s leading provider of voice, data and video telecommunication services, has opened its fifth Innovation Laboratory (Innolab) in Subic.

The four other Innolab sites are in Manila, Cebu, Clark and Davao.

Company officials said the Innolabs have been a venue for the development and testing of innovative products and business solutions in collaboration with customers. Since the first Innolab launch in 2003, these have accommodated more than 2,000 visits from various industries, the academe, government institutions, investors and other organizations.

“Innovation is thriving in PLDT. And the best way to experience innovation is to step into the PLDT Innolab. With this Innolab in Subic, we hope to reach out to more enterprises and individuals who need innovation to boost their businesses,” PLDT customer and sales marketing group head Eric Alberto said.

He noted that PLDT Innolab envisions an ICT-enabled Philippines, and it has already helped numerous institutions embrace information and communication technologies as a way to increase productivity and competitiveness, and streamline operations.

Partners and clients can come to Innolab to simulate a customer set-up or test unique technical requirements, ensuring that the product performs as expected. The lab also holds technology seminars and RDI (research, development, innovation) programs for various members of the community. It likewise exhibits PLDT’s latest products and services.

Officials added that the theme of the Subic Innolab launch – “Fully Loaded” – best describes the number of resources, such as best class infrastructure, that are employed by the lab.

They said that following the success of its other Innolabs, PLDT is committed to sharing the same ICT-enablement and business partnership with Subic Bay Freeport Zone, helping it realize its potential as a world-class investment location.
