Noli to open PowerTech 2009 today
MANILA, Philippines - Ministers and private business delegates to the ministerial conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on Green Industry in Asia will join PowerTrends 2009 and PowerTech 2009, the country’s major energy exhibition and business forum.
Vice President Noli de Castro will formally open PowerTrends and PowerTech this morning at 10 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila. Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes will deliver his keynote address tomorrow Sept. 10.
PowerTrends International Exhibition (Sept. 9-11) and PowerTech 2009 Business Forum (Sept. 9-10) are organized by Leverage International as the supporting exhibition and private sector activities for the UNIDO ministerial assembly.

The Renewable Energy Association of the Philippines pavilion will display different models and technologies of wind turbines, including microturbines, solar panels, pico-hydro, micro hydro, solar heat collector, solar-assisted air-conditioner, batteries, inverters, solar street lights, waste conversion to energy and municipal solid waste to diesel (a very new technology).
The Powertech Business Forum features 26 resource speakers who will discuss topics concerning Philippine investments and access to the Philippine energy markets, and evaluating market opportunities and challenges in renewable energy projects.
Focus of the gathering is the promotion of alternative and renewable energy projects to meet climate change. Parallel technical sessions have also been organized in coordination with major exhibitors and technical experts with such sessions to be attended by technical personnel from the industry, government and academe.
