The National Reinsurance Corp. of the Philippines (PhilNaRe) announced yesterday the appointment of Roberto B. Crisol as the company’s new president and CEO effective at the start of the year.
Crisol takes the place of Wilfrido C. Bantayan, who retired from PhilNaRe last Dec. 31, 2008 after 28 years of dedicated service to the company.
Crisol is not new to the PhilNaRe roster. He previously served as the company’s executive vice president and COO from 2002 to 2007. He first started his career in the insurance industry in 1974 as management trainee with the then Insular life-FGU Insurance Group. Through the years, he rose to management ranks and held senior executive positions in the former Universal Reinsurance Corp. and the Asian regional office of Mapfre Compania De Reaseguros which belongs to the leading Spanish insurance group.
Crisol completed his primary and secondary education at the Ateneo de Manila University and graduated with honors while earning his Bachelor of Arts degree, Major in Economics from the University of the Philippines. He has attended various insurance, reinsurance and management courses locally as well as overseas.
