US, Canadian energy experts push new technology in RP

Two energy efficiency developers from the US and Canada have teamed up to promote new technologies in the Philippines.

Davies Energy Systems Inc. and Smartcool Phil Systems Inc. have formed a joint venture to promote energy efficiency technologies throughout the Philippines to significantly cut costs and help preserve the environment.

The accord was signed by David Y. Verlee, CEO of Smartcool Philippines, and John J.P. Howley, president and CEO of Davies Energy Systems.

Both officials predicted energy savings technologies will become more vital as companies try to cut costs to cope with the global economic slowdown and in the longer term as fossil fuels become progressively scarcer and more expensive.

The joint venture brings together two of the most successful energy efficiency companies to the Philippines.

Smartcool is the exclusive distributor of Canadian technologies that reduce the energy consumption of airconditioning and refrigeration systems.

Its technologies have been installed in over 30,000 locations worldwide over the last 10 years delivering significant energy savings from cooling costs.

Davies Energy is a global energy efficiency company with US and Asian offices and a successful six-year track record in the Philippines of working with the country’s biggest commercial and industrial firms.

The US firm provides comprehensive power quality and investment grade energy audits, and designs and installs energy efficiency systems worldwide for companies wishing to significantly cut energy costs and help safeguard the environment.

Successful applications of Davies Energy include office buildings, shopping malls and commercial centers, factories and production facilities, and smaller-scale structures.

Verlee said Smartcool is very excited about its new relationship with Davies Energy Systems, which he called “the pioneer in the energy performance contracting industry in the Philippines.”

On the other hand, Howley said Smartcool is an important addition to the technologies that Davies Energy provides to customers.

“Not only does Smartcool have excellent technologies for saving energy on air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, our Smartcool partners share our core value of providing only the best technologies in the world to help customers reduce their energy costs,” Howley said.

Under the agreement, the companies will jointly market each other’s technologies and services to customers throughout the Philippines.

The two firms will also work together on the design, installation, and measurement and verification of energy efficiency systems. 

The joint undertaking will allow both companies to provide a broader range of energy savings technologies and services to all customers.
