DBP head to tackle effects of US crisis on RP real estate
Reynaldo G. David, president-chief executive officer of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), will be the guest of honor and speaker during the annual general membership meeting of the Chamber of Real Estate and Builders Association (CREBA) Inc. on Nov. 27.
This was announced by CREBA national president Reghis M. Romero II and vice-president for internal affairs Avelina P. Acuña. David will talk on “The Effects of the US Financial Crisis on Philippine Real Estate: DBP Experience.” He is DBP’s incumbent vice-chairman.
The occasion will coincide with the election of CREBA’s 2009 officers and board of directors at the Bahia Ballroom, Hotel Intercontinental in Makati City.
David was vice-chairman of the Export & Industry Bank where he was actively involved in running its affairs, particularly in the strategic and profitable deployment of bank resources. For several years, he served as Citibank N.A. vice-president and treasurer responsible for the bank’s liquidity, foreign exchange and long-term funding situation. He was assigned to New York as Citibank’s strategic planning officer for the Asia-Pacific region for three years. Then he was assigned to manage Citicorp Finance Ltd. He also managed the First Oversea Credit Lt., a consumer and retail finance company jointly owned with Oversea Chinese Banking Corp.
David was also involved in various posts in international conglomerates: executive director of Unicorp Finance Limited based in Hong Kong; held concurrent positions under a mandate from the Pratt Group, a major industrial Australian conglomerate; managing director and treasurer of The Pratt Group, and director of Pratt Finance (Asia) Ltd., a stock brokerage entity under the supervision of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong; and a licensed dealing director of Pratt Capital Asia (Ltd).
For his dynamic leadership and performance at DBP, he was adjudged as the 2009 “Outstanding CEO of the Year” by the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP). He was particularly cited for leading the bank in the delicate balancing act of accomplishing while boosting its financial strength to record levels.
David is the 1977 “Ten Outstanding Young Men” (TOYM) awardee for offshore banking. A product of the De La Salle University where he finished liberal arts and commerce, he is a certified public accountant. He also finished an Advanced Management Program at the University of Hawaii in 1974.
