BASF improves food efficiency for higher profits

-

BASF’s animal nutrition business unit in the Philippines is a leading innovator and supplier of vitamins, carotenoids, enzymes and organic acids. These BASF ingredients are used by the feed manufacturers, piggery and poultry farm owners to ensure optimized animal health and nutrition, thus, guaranteeing optimum performance and better quality of animal products in the Philippines.

BASF offers products of outstanding quality produced with modern, state-of–the-art technologies. The product portfolio for animal nutrition includes vitamins (A, E, AD3, B2 and Calpan), carotenoids (Lucantin red, yellow and pink), enzymes (Natuphos granule and liquid), and organic acids (Luprosil).

With a broad range of nutritional products of excellent quality, BASF supports the manufacturing of highly efficient feed adapted to the animals’ requirements and the various conditions of swine and poultry raising and husbandry.

BASF also combines technical services and scientific expertise to meet the highest demands and to deliver the best value to the industry. Premium products are a key strength that have made BASF a reliable partner and an industry leader that offers tailor-made solutions for successful feed production in the Philippines and in the world.

By acquiring and divesting a number of businesses, BASF became more competitive and resilient to economic cycles. It has organized its businesses so that the company can focus even more closely on its customers in providing products and solutions to their needs.

BASF’s restructuring program included the divestment of its global premix business in 2007. And in the Philippines, BASF remains strong and is a reliable partner and supplier of ingredients to the animal nutrition industry by working closely with Carrington Trading Inc. in helping Filipino poultry and livestock raisers and feed manufacturers attain optimum yield from their operations.

Pinky Tobiano, president and CEO of Carrington Trading, said her company specializes in the distribution of BASF veterinary products since 2006 in the Philippines.  BASF has made special arrangements with their accredited manufacturers and suppliers for Carrington Trading to complete its list of vitamins and to strengthen the manufacture of vitamin premixes and concentrates made available to its customers at very competitive prices. Tobiano said they are working closely with BASF in providing solutions and products to livestock and poultry raisers and feed millers through seminars, custom fit applicator systems, enrollment in phytase and vitamin lab, preservation of feed ingredients and promotion of healthier livestock.

According to Tobiano, BASF products are of great value to Filipino farmers and to the environment. She said phytase enzyme Natuphos helps in the release of bound nutrients like phosphorus present in feed raw materials of plant origin, helping feed producers lower their feed cost and allowing swine and poultry raisers to take advantage of low cost feeds without compromising nutrition.

“This product not only helps our customers attain profitability by making nutrients available to livestock for growth but also protects the environment for potential pollutants like ammonia from animal wastes,” Tobiano explained.

She said organic acids such as Luprosil help in preserving feed ingredients and protect livestock from diseases caused by molds, fungi and bacteria. This product promotes growth of good bacteria for better absorption of nutrients thus lessening the use of antibiotics. This product of BASF is the answer to the increasing concern of local and international health advocates in promoting the availability of antibiotic free food products to the consuming public, thus, advocating and producing better, safer and healthier livestock. Truly, the presence of BASF in the Philippines benefits poultry and livestock raisers, feed manufacturers, the food consumer and the environment, she added.

As the world’s leading innovator, backed up by Carrington Trading as its partner, BASF will continue its role by maintaining significant research and development activities, and continuing to supply products and services that will promote healthier livestock, lower feed costs, protection of the environment, thus enhancing the quality of life of the growing Philippine population. And with BASF, it helps the Filipino people in solving the food shortage problem, Tobiano said.
