Chemrez Technologies gets ISO certification

- Donnabelle L. Gatdula -
Publicly-listed Chemrez Technologies Inc. has been granted an ISO certification to signify its readiness for the implementation of the Biofuels Act in May this year.

ChemTech’s biodiesel project has been specifically recommended for the comprehensive standard certification from the ISO known as the Integrated Management Systems (IMS) by Certification International Philippines.

Its plant is the first and only biodiesel plant in the country to be IMS-certified. The firm initiated the process of IMS certification in anticipation of the requirement under the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of the Biofuels Act.

The biofuels law requires a one percent coco-biodiesel blend in all diesel fuel to be sold starting May 6, 2007. Only coco-biodiesel products that meet the established Philippine National Standard are allowed in the market.

ChemTech is a leading Philippine company engaged in the manufacture and marketing of resins, biodiesel and oleochemicals, powder coatings, and specialty chemicals for the Philippine and overseas markets.

Aside from an assurance of quality, the IMS prescription furthers the interests of the public in terms of safety, health and the environment.

The firm’s premium coco-biodiesel brand, BioActiv, has been tested in various government and public laboratories worldwide and has been found compliant with accepted national and international standards for biodiesel.
