More TransCo units get ISO certification

The National Transmission Corp. (TransCo) said more of its units have received ISO certifications for quality management.
TransCo president Alan T. Ortiz said the latest recipients of the international seal of quality management are the companys various offices in its Quezon City headquarters.
These offices consist of the Office of the General Counsel, Power System Reliability Group, Corporate Planning Group, Finance Group, Administration Department and Human Resources Department.
Other offices which were certified under the new international standard included: Corporate IS/IT Department, Security Department, Sub-transmission Asset Divestment Department, Bids and Contracts Management Department, and Corporate Communication Division of the Corporate Services Group.
Over the last three years, TransCos various functional units nationwide System Operations, Project Management Group, and Engineering Services, and the Operation and Maintenance Groups of North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, have successfully hurdled the rigorous requirements of the ISO 9001:2000 certification.
"These international recognitions reflect the serious efforts we put in place to continuously improve our processes and operational efficiency to better serve our customers and the end-consumers," Ortiz said.
Underscoring the corporations unrelenting quest for improvement, Ortiz said TransCos regional and functional groups are already taking steps to attain their next goal the Integrated Management Systems (IMS) certification.
Ortiz said the IMS includes certifications for Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2004) and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment (OHSAS 18001:1999) on top of the ISO 9001:2000.
TransCos North Luzon Operation and Maintenance Group was awarded the IMS certification last June 28.
