dme distributes the popular Gunbound Philippines, MU and GoPets internet games.
Jojo Anonuevo, president of dme, said the company is set to complete its series of investments of around $5 million from such investors as Japan Asia Investment Corp., California Pacific Capital and a Taiwanese entrepreneur.
Through a new division called MobiusOnline, the P50-million company will enable its 3.5 million Mobius gaming subscribers to pay for products and services such as prepaid cellphone cards, Internet cards, landline phone cards, voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) credits and game cards over the site.
Anonuevo explained that after its initial success in the online gaming industry, dme has decided to venture into e-commerce, an area where there is a huge potential for growth.
Through MobiusOnline, subscribers would be able to use currency called e-points to pay for game time and load up their various game accounts.
The universal online currency e-points, Anonuevo explained, would replace the use of credit cards, prepaid cards and other different denominations of paying for Mobius products and services.
With the new online payment service, MobiusOnline director Edward Diwa projects a rapid growth in the companys subscribers from the current 3.5 million to 35 million by the end of this year.
MobiusOnline partnered with Seer Technologies to create a system that would handle as much as 100,000 transactions a day.
Anonuevo said that the company plans to grow the business in several areas. This includes growing its human resources from its current 150 employes to 300.
dme is headquartered in the Philippines and has operations in Guam, Saipan, Singapore and Malaysia.
