The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) is in talks with the city of Makati for the display of stock market information on the electronic board located along the Guadalupe bridge on EDSA.
PSE president Francis Lim said the move is in line with the exchanges efforts to increase investor awareness on the equities market.
"This initiative forms part of our campaign to build awareness on the stock market to acclimatize and motivate existing and potential market participants through increased knowledge and understanding," Lim said.
"Our proposal to Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay is the display of stock market information including stock indices and corporate logo. For start, we can make available for free display on the electronic board at leat 24 exposures of 10-second advertising spots per hour on a fixed-cycle basis," Lim further said.
At present, stock quotes are being displayed on electronic billboards in five strategic locations in Metro Manila in SM Megamall, La Salle Greenhills, Equitable-PCIBank in Paseo de Roxas and the entrance of Ayala Alabang Village, Muntinlupa City.
The PSE earlier entered into a partnership with Globaltronics Inc., a leading supplier of electronic boards, to display various PSE data such as the Philippine Composite Index.
Lim said the exchange will continue to focus on boosting market activity in terms of expanding market breadth, liquidity and depth.
He said the bourse will also continue to strengthen governance and market integrity measures through the newly-created market integrity board.
The PSE is now working mainstream and cable television networks to show stock market information during trading hours. It will also study the feasibility of having a dedicated cable channel for real-time information.
