Systimax, Kandasamy disclosed, has actually been in the Philippines since 1995 and, in the past few years, has been growing annually by around 10 percent.
However, Kandasamy said, Systimax sees a strong future potential for the Philippine information and communications technology (ICT) sector and is thus positioning itself more prominently to provide the cabling infrastructure requirements of the ICT sector.
According to an independent survey, Kandasamy said, the Philippine IT cabling market is around $7 million.
But growth of the ICT sector is projected at between seven to eight percent annually.
Systimax, Kandasamy explained, provides copper, fiber and even mobile connection.
Copper cables, according to Russell Julius, Systimaxs technical director for Asia Pacific is more cost-effective up to 100 meters, providing savings of 60 percent to 75 percent.
However, over a longer distance, fiber optics is the best option.
