Leaders Unlimited launches youth project in Bohol

- Michael Ligalig -
TAGBILARAN CITY — Bohol was recently chosen as the pilot province for an innovative, trendy project for the youth called Step-Easy (Skills Training Enhancement Program — Employment Accessibility for the Youth). The project is spearheaded by Leaders Unlimited of the Aurelio Periquet Jr. Foundation.

Through the project, which was launched and well-received last Friday at the Metro Centre Hotel, youth scholars from Bohol will be provided computer training including basic computer usage, troubleshooting techniques, etc. The training will be conducted by Informatics Holdings.

Meanwhile, the provincial government of Bohol, through Gov. Erico Aumentado and Vice Governor Julius Caesar Herrera, agreed to sponsor the meals, transportation and lodging of all the scholars in support of the project.

"We chose Bohol as the pilot province because it has a strong youth base. We will be conducting Step-Easy in various provinces, and the skills we will provide will depend on the need of that particular province," explained Rep. Anna Marie Periquet, president of the Aurelio Periquet Jr. Foundation. The foundation is the proponent of Leaders Unlimited.

Vice-Governor Herrera, representing the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bohol, signed a memorandum of agreement with Leaders Unlimited to seal the cooperation of the participating agencies.

Established by their children as a tribute to four of the country’s greatest leaders, namely Ramon V. Mitra Jr., Aurelio Periquet Jr., Camilo Quilban Riingen, and Luis R. Pellicer Jr., Leaders Unlimited aims to encourage young leaders to dedicate their lives in the service of their community.

The program is being energized by Bernardo Jojo Mitra of Northern Foods Corp.; Rep. Anna Marie Periquet of the Aurelio Periquet Jr. Foundation Inc.; Leo A. Riingen, president and chief executive officer of Informatics Holdings (Phils) Inc.; and Luis Pellicer III, president and chief executive officer of Lupel Marketing Inc.

"Through Leaders Unlimited, it is envisioned that the spirit of participation and responsibility of the youth in nation-building will remain strong, and young Filipino leaders shall be shining examples of true greatness all over the world," Periquet said.

Leaders Unlimited looks not only to enhance the skills of the youth but also to help in the creation of jobs through Step-Easy. The project was launched only this year, with young leaders contributing time and effort to help the less fortunate youth.

Leaders Unlimited was initiated to take part in the total development of potential young leaders through the conduct of seminars, workshops, skills training, and scholarship and employment programs that instill values. These undertakings are vital in the fulfillment of contributing to the critical effort of building leaders for tomorrow by investing in the youth today.

As the prime mover of Leaders Unlimited, the Aurelio Periquet Jr. Foundation aims to inculcate and promote the true qualities of patriotic and responsible business leadership.

The foundation has been conducting the Leaders Unlimited Aurelio Periquet Jr. Business Leadership Seminar Series on campus for the past four years in the belief that the making of an excellent, responsible and well-rounded leader starts in the universities where young people are trained in their respected areas of interest.

"We intend to take part in the total development of young people through the conduct of seminars and workshops and skills training programs that instill the correct business values," Periquet said.
