The National Economic Development Authority-Investment Coordination Committee (NEDA-ICC) has granted project approval to three build-operate-transfer (BOT) projects.
The three projects which got the NEDA-ICC nod were the Northern Intermodal Transport Terminal Complex (NITTC) project of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), the Metro Cebu Water Districts (MCWD) Carmen Bulk Water Supply project, and the NBI Extensible Automated Fingerprint Identification System (XAFIS) project.
The $17.3-million NITTC project aims to decongest Metro Manila from provincial buses plying Manilas thoroughfares.
The NITTC facility will provide a terminal to serve as drop-off and pick-up point for provincial buses operating in Northern Luzon.
It will also provide a transport interchange for urban transport modes such as jeepneys, taxis and private cars.
Ticketing booths, food/beverage/shops and other amenities suitable for passenger needs will also be provided.
The P1.6-billion Carmen Bulk Water Supply project aims to supply the Metro Cebu Water District with 60,000 cubic meter per day of treated bulk water from the Luyan-Cantumog River.
The XAFIS project aims to automate and put in place an electronic database of fingerprints in the NBI.
It will convert the existing paper-based 30 million civilian 10-prints, 800,000 criminal fingerprints and 400 latent prints into electronic format.
The system will simplify the issuance process of clearances and will enhance the capability of the NBI to solve and deter crimes.
