Local FedEx partner to invest add’l P100M in new facility

The local partner of Federal Express Corp. (FedEx) which operates Airfreight 2100 Inc. is investing an additional P100 million to put up a sixth logistics facility in the country.

Lina Group chairman Alberto Lina said yesterday that his company is investing another P100 million to put up a new logistics facility inside the Calmeray Industrial Park in Laguna.

The Lina Group is the local partner of Fedex which operates the local airfreight – Airfreight 2100 Inc.

"The P100-million additional investment would be used to put up a two-storey warehouse facility inside the Calmelray Industrial Park," Lina said.

The 6,000 square meter warehouse facility would be the company’s sixth facility aside from those already in the Clark Special Economic Zone, the Subic Bay Freeport and Special Economic Zone, Cebu, Parañaque and Cavite.

The planned new logistics facility would cater to companies located in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon – Calabarzon area.

Lina pointed out that a new logistics facility is needed in that area because Metro Manila is already congested.

The new logistics facility is expected to be operational by June this year.

Airfreight 2100 Inc. is the sole licensee of Fedex in the Philippines since 1989.

It serves mostly multinational and electronic companies.
