Mark Cojuangco is not part of Biskeg
April 15, 2004 | 12:00am
Congressman Mark O. Cojuangco (NPC, 5th District, Pangasinan) clarified to a trusted Eye-spy that he is not and never has been a member of Biskeg Pangasinan. He was neither consulted nor has he given his consent to his alleged endorsement of a presidential candidate. The congressman explained that the only time that he ever attended a meeting of Biskeg was in a lunch hosted by Sto. Tomas Mayor Bebot Villar. Cojuangco only attended the apparent Biskeg meeting in his official capacity as congressman of the 5th district and as the mayors guest. The town of Sto. Tomas happens to be within Cojuangcos congressional district. In the interest of fairness and accepted party rules, the congressman is making an appeal for Biskeg not to issue statements in his behalf. While he respects Biskegs position and preference, he will steadfastly follow the position of the NPC. The NPC is not endorsing any presidential candidate because it has no presidential candidate of its own. At this stage of the countrys political development, such party discipline is commendable and rare.
The ongoing squabble between the prominent Filipino-Chinese siblings (whose business interests cover food, garments, personal care and banking) continues to draw the indignation of the Chinese community elders. Eye-spies revealed that what is gallingly frustrating is that the disagreement could easily be resolved in a peaceful manner if the children simply heed their mothers written request (command seems to be the better word) for a private settlement. Reports have confirmed, however, that the eldest son is hell-bent on defying their mothers wishes and fighting it out through all means possible legal or otherwise. This includes brazenly exposing actual and fabricated details of the family feud. Their father, a levelheaded and reserved man during his lifetime, must certainly be turning in his grave. The Eye-spy, who is part of the clans inner circle, has verified the information to be 100 percent true and accurate.
During Holy Week, our top Eye-spy called the Man from Istanbul conducted grassroots surveys in Region 1. Based on his ground level findings, FPJ is leading in Region 1, Cordillera and Region 2. Baguio City and Benguet. being NPC bailiwicks will go for FPJ. With the Midas touch of Enrile still at hand, FPJ is leading in Region 2s Cagayan Valley. In Pangasinan, FPJ is leading by a small margin. In Nueva Ecija, Lakas strategists are advised to be wary of the Josons. There are still talks that they will switch camps at the very last minute of the election. Much in the case of the Estrellas in Pangasinan.
Reliable Ear-spies from the Church disclosed the other day that the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) put out an all-po ints-bulletin to all its members. Apparently, an emergency meeting is on the agenda with 29 campaign days to go. The word from the clerical grapevine is that the CBCP will discuss how to address an alarming scenario that is emerging. Whatever it is, we hope that the CBCP head and the princes of the Philippine Church pray for divine guidance so that they may help bring about credible elections and peace in our land.
Text rumors were circulating that presidential aspirant Raul Roco was offered P200 million and the Department of Foreign Affairs portfolio in exchange for withdrawing from the race. Allegedly thrown into the pot also were three Cabinet posts for his chosen men. Aksyon Demokratiko ng Pilipinas insiders immediately denied this. To be fair to Roco, he really has a prostrate condition giving credible justification for his medical leave. The trouble with campaign periods is that the slightest developments are spun into innuendoes, half-truths, and half lies by the inspired deviltry of over-imaginative minds to throw contending parties off-guard. In this country, anyone who has neither the cast-iron stomach nor the Kevlar prostrate to take black "txt" propaganda and muckraking should stay as far away as possible from politics.
