Speaking at the companys 19th annual awards Thursday night at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel, Fortune Life president Armando C. Trinidad said the awardees exemplify the firms resiliency and competitivenes amid a changing economic and political milieu.
Among the top awardees were Socorro O. Villamor, insurance specialist of the year; Victor A. Taguines, field manager of the year; and Patricia L. Taguiness agency manager of the year. Special awards were also handed out to those with outstanding sales performance.
Fortune Life was founded by Antonio L. Cabangon Chua, chairman emeritus and chief executive officer. He is now the Philippine ambassador to Laos, the countrys partner in the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
In his message, Amb. Cabangon Chua heaped praises on Fortune Lifes top sales producers, saying that "as we position ourselves in the global arena, let us empower the country by securing the future and by providing insurance."
"Let us erase the uncertainties of our future by preparing for it today," he said. "Let us deliver a better world to our children and their children."
In his address, Trinidad noted the challenges facing the insurance industry, but expressed optimism that through "shared aspiration, we in the life insurance industry can play a more significant role during these difficult times. I say this because the insurance business is all about enabling people to have a genuine peace of mind."
President Arroyo, in her message, also lauded Fortune Life. "You have not only advanced the interest of your company, but more importantly, endowed our country with a brighter tomorrow by encouraging capital formation," she said.
