Lean and mean?
February 5, 2004 | 12:00am
Cost-cutting techniques vary from one company to another, depending on whos running it. As far as multi-tasking is concerned, AMA, it seems, is making headway among its competitors. It was reported by our ear-spies that the company is streamlining its workforce by making full use of the lean-and-mean concept. Management is cutting the companys administrative cost so that a Property Custodian also works as part-time Librarian, HR officer as Registrar, and IT officer as Property Custodian. To cut on the cost of security services, the company allegedly got rid the security agency and the guards assigned on nightshift and asked their employees to come at six in the morning to open the office breakfast, of course, not included. Some of the employees of AMA, it appears, are not taking this lightly, especially the P1,000 penalty, reprimand and possible suspension for every wrong done. But with the kind of business atmosphere this country is being sucked into, sometimes its really just good that one has a job.
Our Spyring from the Opposition reported that the recent rumors and media leak on the supposed reassignments of Defense Secretary Ermita, DOTC Secretary Mendoza, DILG Secretary Lina, and NAKTAF Chief Angelo T. Reyes was a ploy to get GMA to effect such changes. Having done so, she would have projected instability and panic within her government. The opposition figured that a leak would force her to commit to the shake-up. Their assessment was apparently wrong. The President didnt fall for the trap.
She only had her spokesman deny the matter. Campaign Politics Rule No. 1: The opposition will always tar the defense leadership with political partisanship. Campaign Politics Rule No. 2: The opposition will always try to portray the Ruling Party to be in disarray and in panic with leaks on Cabinet Musical Chairs. That is music to their ears. Somehow, knowledge of these rules will help the electorate see the forest. And not just the booby-trapped trees.
The family of the late businessman Arturo Rocha is now fighting for what seems to be overlapping claims on his leftover wealth and assets. According to our ear-spies, his former wife, Rosemarie Lopez Rocha, is claiming the Forbes Park Mansion property and the Manila Polo Club share. Arturos second wife, Marissa Rocha, who lived with him for many years and has a child with him, "inherited" the properties after her husbands death and would not give in to Rosemaries demands so do the brothers Rocha. Because of his unexpected death during a European vacation, Arturo Rocha never got a legal annulment from his marriage to Rosemarie. Heres another clear reason why advocates of divorce are pushing for this law to be instituted in the country.
Filipinos share the Japanese penchant for Shadow War. Opposition ear-spies have disclosed that with Senator Honasan providing overall and close-in security for FPJs campaign, he is being groomed to be Da Kings Defense Secretary. The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is being reserved for Senator Lacson just in case he decides to mend fences with FPJ. However, it was disclosed that in addition to the DILG, Lacson would like to take charge of the National Anti-Kidnapping Task Force (NAKTAF). A logical fit. With Honasan at DND, that would mean no destabilization attempts against himself. Perhaps, only to Da King.
Victor Corpuzs comments that Senator Loren Legarda is a "political prostitute" only created a backlash against the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Our ear-spies overheard that the former intelligence official is not squeaky clean himself. According to our spyring records, Corpuz is an avowed communist. In fact, the US Intelligence community does not trust him because they are not sure where he stands on the issue of Low Intensity Conflicts against the Communist insurgents. His comrades in the Left do not trust him because they believe he was and still is a deep penetration agent for the government. In short, some officers of the AFP and some cadres of the Left believe Corpuz is a "double agent." Corpuz should remember that when he points one of his fingers to accuse someone, there are three more of his fingers pointing back at him.
