The gatekeeper at the Defense Department
December 18, 2003 | 12:00am
It was overheard that this very high-ranking official has just appointed his daughter to a confidential post in the DND Office of the Secretary (OSEC). While this isnt really irregular due to the fact that its a common practice among government officials to "protect" their interests, this officials reason for hiring his daughter takes conventional wisdom to new heights. The daughters main charge, our ear-spies overheard, is to prevent her father from being accosted, bothered and inveigled by his supposedly numerous mistresses. If you recall, before GMA signed his appointment papers, the president received a dossier on his numerous dalliances. Well, the so-called "gatekeeper" of the Defense Department now has a mandate to address that alleged dossier.
The body of the late Foreign Affairs Secretary Blas Ople had not yet arrived on Philippine soil, when this eager-beaver Presidential Adviser reportedly asked one of the Presidents cronies to let the President know he was available for the job. This infamous presidential adviser has been pretending to be the power behind the Department of Foreign Affairs even during the time of Vice President Tito Guingona. It is allegedly his goal to lord it over the diplomatic community. What a guy!
It appears Angie Reyes is working doubly hard, moving heaven and earth to "get the job done" in his new post as Anti-Kidnapping Czar. But word inside the barracks say that he is only doing this to get more pogi-points, and the nod of the Lakas hierarchy to consider him as a senatorial bet for 2004. Our Palace ear-spies overheard that while his image with the President is improving, there are some sectors that are questioning his decision to run for a senatorial seat. Our sources overheard that Heherson Alvarez "assured" Reyes senatorial slate if and only if the former defense chief will be consistent in hammering the bad guys and bringing them to jail with no politicking whatsoever in the background.
It was said that during the time of Erap, it was Jingg-OY who had it. Now, in this administration, its the First Gentlemans cousins Konk-OY and Bomb-OY who seem to be having it good. It looks like the Oys have it again!
