SBMA opens another Japanese ind’l park

The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) opened recently a third Japanese industrial park to accommodate the growing foreign investors flocking to the Freeport.

SBMA chairman Felicito C. Payumo led the groundbreaking ceremony for the P54 million Boton Light and Science Park which is expected to create more job opportunities.

"Many foreign, particularly Japanese, believe that the Subic Freeport is still the best place to set up a business as it offers not just a factory site but a total community with a secured and pristine environment, and the availability of highly-skilled and dedicated workers," Payumo said.

Payumo also signed a long-term lease contract with Japan Medical Imaging Inc. (JMI).

Signing on behalf of JMI was its president Hidenori Mukai. According to Mukai, Subic emerged the top choice among several other industrial zones for investment after extensive project evaluation and site selection.

JMI is a world-class supplier and manufacturer of used medical imaging equipment such as CT scan, mammography, X-ray and ultrasound.

According to Ichiro Tsuji, president of the Subic Techno Park, along with Boton Light and Science Park director Virginia Limcuando, announced that six more Japanese firms have made reservations to put up operations in Subic.
