Austrian firm opens P1-B Batangas plant

Tann Philippines Inc., an Austrian-based converting paper manufacturer that supplies Philip Morris Philippines (PMI), recently opened its P1-billion manufacturing center in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

The Batangas factory will supply PMI affiliates in the Philippines, Indonesia and Korea, as well as other partners of the industry throughout Asia-Pacific.

Tann Philippines Inc. is the local subsidiary of Tann-Papier GmbH and is part of Trierenberg Holding of Austria.

Trierenberg is one of the big paper suppliers of Philip Morris International around the world.

According to Lukas Jungreithmeir, Tann Philippines president and chief executive officer, "we are grateful and honored to be in the Philippines."

"Tann’s investment is a statement of our confidence in the long-term viability and prospects for the Philippine economy," Jungreithmeir said.

Tann Philippines will currently concentrate on providing high quality tipping papers and packaging materials for cigarette manufacturers.

It aims to produce 155 million square meters of paper solutions annually.
