4 Japanese IT firms eye RP

At least four Japanese information technology (IT) firms have expressed their intention to establish operations in the country following a visit to Tokyo, Japan by Board of Investment managing head Gregory L. Domingo.
Domingo was in Japan recently to promote Philippine information technology services and software solutions.
During his two and one-half day stay in Tokyo, Domingo said the four Japanese 4 Japanese firms interested to set up operations in the country are Epson Software Development Center, Nihon Design Engineering Co. Ltd., Maejima Industry Co. Ltd. and 10art-ni Corp.
Epson Software Development Center, Domingo said, plans to establish a research and personal center in the Philippines this year.
Nihon Design Engineering Co. Ltd., on the other hand, plans to put up offices to design three-dimensional plastic molds.
Maejima Industry Co. Ltd. is also putting up an office in the country which will engage in the design of incinerators while 10art-ni Corp. plans to develop application for open source software.
Domingo admitted that in terms of actual investment, the amount involved are quite small. "However, the decision of the four Japanese firms reinforces the Philippines growing reputation as a good IT outsourcing center," he said.
