Union Cement Corp. (UCC) has reached an agreement to purchase Limay Grinding Mill Corp. (LGMC), a cement clinker grinding operation located in Bataan. It is majority owned by Heidelberg Cement of Germany.
LGMC has been purchasing its clinker from UCCs plant in Lugait, Misamis Oriental and Bulacan. "Since the Limay operation has been buying its clinker from UCC, the purchase is a natural fit for our operations and market position and a commitment by our shareholders to strengthen our position in the Philippine market," according to UCCs chief operations officer Paul OCallaghan.
UCC is a fully integrated cement manufacturing operation with plants strategically located in the Philippines: two in Mindanao, in Misamis Oriental and Davao City; and two in Luzon, in La Union and Bulacan.
UCC is a member of Holcim one of the worlds leading suppliers of cement as well as aggregates, concrete and construction-related services, with interest in over 70 countries in all continents.
